We finished our 1st 2P play in ~100 minutes. In addition to the new end game trigger, the expansion is also supposed to add a lot more things thematic to the PC game - a happiness meter, defending against 'invaders', additional regions, etc. I heard the upcoming expansion will change how the game ends. Trying to balance between taking more workers (and thus, getting more cards) and trying to rush the game end by playing all your cards, which is the end of game trigger is super-fun. I really like the trading aspect of the game. The resource generation is handled very elegantly by sending workers to the industry tiles, thus keeping resource tokens out of the game. We played with the advanced mode of gameplay (discard purple engineer card at the start, get 2 gold for someone trading for a purple good from you, and choose to block someone from using your industry for one turn after it is build) and a home-made rule of 'pick-2-and-choose-one' island tile. The rules fiddliness is kept to a minimum. In fact, this was one of the easiest games (with a >3.0 weight on BGG) to teach in my collection. Once I taught her the rules in 10-15 minutes and played 3-4 trial rounds, she grasped them very easily. The next night, I taught the game to my wife, who was very reluctant (to start learning a new game with so many components at night) at first after seeing the massive amount of tiles laid out. I started off playing the normal solo mode to get a feel for the gameplay. There are English-translated versions available on BGG. The official solo mode rules were recently released in German. I bought a copy from Amazon a few weeks ago and finally got it to table. Being a big fan of Martin Wallace's games, I wanted to try Anno 1800. I recall thoroughly enjoying playing the game, even though I loved Sid Meier's Civ3 and Age of Empires/Rise of Nations more. I have played the Anno series PC game in the past (~15 years ago). In the past couple of weeks, I played Anno 1800 board game 4 times (2x -Solo & 2x - 2P). r/tabletopgamedesign - Designer's subreddit.r/boardgameexchange - selling/buying/trading games.Game of the Week Calendar Related Sites & Subreddits The simplest use is to bold game names in your comment and add " /u/r2d8 getinfo" at the end of the post, but this post/sub has other features identified.
